He was born November 12, 1975. He completed his Ph.D. in Synthetic Chemistry and Polymer Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the United States. He is a researcher chemist and musician. He has been working s an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at Boğaziçi University since 2013. He is the founder of the Wassulu music band. He plays ngoni and transverse flute.
